Bio: Olafur Arnalds was born November 3, 1986 in the Icelandic town Mosfellsbær, an area only seven miles from the country’s capital. In his late teenage years, Arnalds began performing and making music with a series of hardcore bands, something he now considers a means of rebelling against his parents. His first solo project as an ambient instrumental artist, Eulogy for Evolution, was released in 2007. Only three years later, he gained popularity with a collection of songs named Living Room Songs. This album was recorded in Arnalds’ own living room, giving each song a “live feel” to its listeners. Since this rise in success, Arnalds has continued to deliver well-liked music among the fans of his genre with his most recent works, such as the soundtrack for Broadchurch, and Island Songs.
